As summer draws to a close and school begins tomorrow, I'd just like to say that I <3 Riverside.
CRIME ALERT: Armed robbery near campus (Blaine Street and Watkins Avenue)
Yesterday (8/315) at about 9:30p.m. an armed robbery occurred near our
campus. A male victim was walking at night on Blaine Street and approached
3 males standing near the corner of Blaine and Watkins Avenue. According to
the victim, all of them pointed black colored handguns at him. One of the
males ordered the victim to hand over his wallet and money, which he did.
The suspects then got into a newer model 4-door silver colored sedan
(possibly at Mitsubishi) and headed northbound on Blaine. The victim
described all three suspects as being Hispanic or Black males in their mid
20's that stood about 6 feet tall.

On 06/24/05, UCRPD officers were called to the Arts Building reference a
theft and vandalism in progress of the vending machines. Witnesses saw two
white males loading coins into gym bags and walking away from the Arts
Building carrying two obviously heavy gym bags. UCRPD officers chased the
two suspects on foot, one suspect was caught at the Barn and the other was
caught in the bushes on the west side of the theater.

UCPD recently contacted a victim who filed the following report with the
Riverside Police Department
Suspect:
Male subject wearing a blue scarf covering his face (no further description)
Weapon:
A large silver knife with a black plastic handle
Details:
On 07/30/05, at about 1030 p.m., there was an attempted robbery in front of
the Garden View Apartment complex which is located on 1255 Everton Place .
The victim was a UCR female foreign student who was standing on the sidewalk
and looking for her keys when a male approached her from behind and said,
"Give me the money". The suspect was wearing a blue scarf over his face and
holding a large silver kitchen knife with a black plastic handle. The victim
closed her eyes and screamed and the suspect struck her twice on the leg
with the weapon. He was last seen running on foot toward Iowa Avenue. The
victim sustained two 3 inch long cuts to her leg. UCPD would like to take
this opportunity to remind our community to stay alert and aware of your
surroundings.
